Dear parents and guardians,

We have access to Google chrome books in the class room and it is a very effective ICT
tool, especially when doing projects. The most effective and pain free way of effectively
using these chrome books is by using Google drive. Students will be doing a lot more
researching and presenting throughout the year, especially during the Exhibition.
In the past, sharing and collating information between all the students, in a particular
Exhibition group or project group, has proven to be quite difficult at times. For
example if/when group members are sick or have gone away for various reasons and need
to keep in touch or complete their part of the research for that week, USB sticks get lost or
corrupt or forgotten at home etc.

To help make this a little easier, we are asking that all parents create a gmail
account for their child so that all group work can be saved onto the Google drive. It can
also be accessed anywhere and at any time and most importantly, can be edited and
retrieved easily between all group members.

We understand that not everyone is comfortable with their child having a personal email
address, so for safety reasons we are asking that all parent/guardians set up the
email account and have the password so that the parents can control the access the
students have to the account and can in turn monitor its usage. These accounts
can be added to the existing guld grade 5 account so all information can be shared between
them easily.

If this can be done over the weekend it would be greatly appreciated, so we have time to
have the ICT teacher Preet get onto allowing access to the new student email addresses to
the guld grade 5 account.
The email address should be sent to your child's class teacher, so that they can also have
a list of everyone's Google email just in case anyone forgets it.

Thank you for your help and support!

Kind regards,

The grade 5 team
Geoff, Christian and MP
